Cairn Terrier, one of the first Terrier breeds from Scottish Highlands also a good working dog part II
Here’s a link of part I if you havent read it, just click on this: Cairn Terrier Part I
This is another brave small dog breed, with an attitude of a big dog it’s really fearless, it is like a big dog trapped in a small dog, sounds like a movie but it is that way. Cairn Terriers are very intelligent dogs, but many times intelligence does not come with other attributes like being strong, loyal, adventurous, but in this case, the Cairn Terrier has them all , is really an admirable dog. As told in the previous post, Cairn Terriers were used to hunt small rodents, because of this they also love to dig huge holes in the ground searching for prey, real or imaginary.
You should socialize your Cairn terrier when puppy because they have the potential to become very aggressive towards other animals which can get you in a lot of troubles. However, they adapt easily to live with other animals in their ambient.
These dogs are very protective of their family, but they also are very social and present a friendly behavior with people they meet and are nice to them.
Cairns have a strong hunting instinct, but as mentioned before these are very intelligent dogs, so there’s almost nothing you can’t teach your dog if you have the patience. So training is very important and communication with your dog too, a trained Cairn terrier will make your experience with this dog very lovely and worth remembering.
