Shetland Sheepdog (often called Sheltie) are small to médium sized dogs in a variety of colors
The Shetland Sheepdog are very energetic dogs who are always willing to play, run and work hard. They are known for having a role in herding and protecting sheeps. This breed is probably a descendant of collies and King Charles Spaniel. Nowadays these dogs are considered family pets although they can be raised in a farm to perform some herding jobs. The original name was Shetland Collie, but caused a lot of controversy amoung other Collies breeders so they were renamed to Shetland Sheepdog
They have a double coat and are small dogs. He’s agile and sturdy. In terms of eye colors they may present blue eyes or one brown and one blue. Common eyes are generally dark.
Coat colors may vary between 3 different colors, tri-color, blue merles and sable with white. Blue merles have more chance to present blue eyes, all other coat colors must have brown eyes. Sable is the more common color of coating, there are always exceptions
In general males are bigger than females and they weigh around 11 to 24 lb, however Shelties can be found outside of these ranges
